Current Research/Role

I joined the History of Parliament Trust in December 2019 as Public Engagement Assistant, having previously worked as a Visitor Engagement Assistant and Tour Guide at the Houses of Parliament. In 2022 I was delighted to move into the role of Public Engagement Manager, heading up a team of engagement professionals.

In 2017 I completed an MA in Public History at Royal Holloway, University of London, specialising in history podcasting and the history of Children’s Literature. During this course I undertook training in Oral History interviewing, supplemented by more recent training from the Oral History Society. I have also been lucky to work within the outreach and engagement teams of a handful of heritage institutions, including Strawberry Hill House.

Research Interests

I have worked in the field of Parliamentary History for over six years, having begun working as a Tour Guide on the Parliamentary Estate. Through this I developed a broad understanding of the development of Parliament over many centuries, including the changes to Parliamentary policy, legislation and tradition, and the history of the Palace of Westminster itself. I thoroughly enjoy communicating with a variety of publics, specialising in talking to those with a limited understanding of Parliamentary history- including students and young people.

I am passionate about exploring new methods of history communication, including podcasting and short-form video. I am also a volunteer interviewer for the History of Parliament’s Oral History project, and work closely with our Contemporary History section.

Specialisms: Public History and history presentation, including presenting on screen and in person. Parliamentary spaces and the Westminster estate, women’s history, oral history.
